What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, often described as the sister science to Yoga, is a holistic approach to wellness that integrates diet, daily routines, and herbal traditions to support balance and vitality. Rooted in the understanding that each person is a unique blend of the five elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space. Ayurveda offers guidance based on one’s natural constitution (Prakriti) and current patterns of imbalance (Vikriti).

A Foundational Assessment provides a structured way to explore how these elements relate to digestion, energy levels, and overall well-being. From this framework, a clear, practical Ayurvedic approach to vitality can be outlined, offering accessible steps for developing habits that support individual health goals over time. No matter where someone is in their process, Ayurveda offers grounded, meaningful tools for cultivating greater harmony and resilience.

What can an Ayurveda Assessment do for me?

Are you noticing ongoing patterns with digestion, stress, energy levels, weight changes, or overall balance? A Foundational Ayurveda Assessment offers a structured way to explore how daily habits, digestion, and lifestyle factors may be influencing how you feel.

In this one-on-one session, your health history, current patterns, and lifestyle are reviewed within an Ayurvedic framework to better understand how underlying tendencies may be contributing to what you’re experiencing.

This assessment can be useful for people navigating patterns such as:
✔ Digestive concerns (bloating, IBS, reflux)
✔ Hormonal transitions or imbalances (PMS, PCOS, menopause)
✔ Ongoing fatigue, stress, or disrupted sleep
✔ Weight changes or metabolic challenges
✔ Skin patterns such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis
✔ Joint discomfort or inflammation
✔ Frequent illness or sensitivity to seasonal changes

From this process, a clear, practical Ayurvedic framework is outlined with accessible suggestions for supporting vitality and balance over time. The emphasis is on developing sustainable habits and understanding how to work with your unique constitution, rather than quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions.

If you’re interested in taking a more informed, structured look at how your daily rhythms relate to your health, you’re welcome to book a Foundational Ayurveda Assessment.

Is Ayurveda considered to be medical care?

Ayurveda is a complete science, and the traditional system of medicine that originated in India and has been practiced for thousands of years. While it has been recognized as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States, it is not recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a standard of medical care.

It’s important to note that Ayurveda is not a replacement for conventional medical treatment and should not be used as a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed healthcare professional. Ayurvedic treatments should be used in conjunction with, not in place of, medical treatment.

Also, it’s essential to consult with a qualified and experienced Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized recommendations that are safe and appropriate for your individual needs. It’s important to note that not all Ayurvedic practitioners have formal training or certification, so it’s important to do your research and seek out a qualified practitioner.

Finally, it’s important to inform your healthcare provider of any Ayurvedic treatments or supplements you may be using, as they may interact with other medications or treatments you are undergoing.
